Our next Volunteer Advocate Training will be in the Summer of 2010. We are looking for dedicated and compassionate people who are committed to sexual assault advocacy, have a strong desire to empower survivors of sexual assault, and help advance our community knowledge of sexual assault. Volunteers can help with our 24 hour Rape Crisis Hotline which includes evenings, weekends, and day/office shifts. Volunteers must be over the age of 18, able to fill shift commitments, possess an open, non-judgmental attitude toward survivors of crime, possess good communication skills, the ability to work well with a wide range of people, and be able to complete the mandatory 40 hour volunteer advocate training to educate them on SAVA services, community resources and Sexual Assault Advocacy. We also ask that volunteers fulfill a one year commitment to the program and successfully clear a background record check. There is a $15 processing fee, though scholarships are available and can be discussed during interview. If you are interested please contact Vida at 970-472-4204 or vida@savacenter.org for this or other volunteer opportunities.
Volunteer Opportunities -Victim Advocates staff the 24-Hour Rape Crisis Hotline and provide crisis intervention, personal support, advocacy, information, and referrals for victims of sexual assault, their friends, and families. Wanna get involved? The Outreach/Education Program is constantly seeking passionate, talented volunteers to help out in all capacities of our production of Until Someone Wakes Up. All volunteers are required to attend a one day training covering sexual assault, SAVA services, and program information.
