Overview

SAVA began producing a local production of Until Someone Wakes Up in 2000. The show was originally intended as a one-time event: it has since grown by leaps and bounds. Now, nine years later, the play tours across Colorado and Wyoming to high schools, colleges, church groups, and community groups. SAVA has also presented the play to communities and schools in Utah.

Featuring scenes of comedy, drama, and satire this piece explores the issues surrounding sexual violence, gender role socialization, and healing.

The original script for Until Someone Wakes Up was written in 1992 at Macalester College in Minnesota. Professor Carolyn Levy and her students interviewed actual perpetrators and survivors of sexual violence and turned those interviews into the scenes in the play. All of the stories are true.
